Situated on the bank of the Torsa River, Jaldapara National Park is a point of attraction in Alipurduar district of West Bengal. The area of the national park is 216.51 km2, situated at a height of 61 meter. In 1941, to protect its natural world, it was declared as a sanctuary and in May 2012, Government of India declared it as a national park. The place was earlier recognized as “Totapara” before the year 1800 due to the residence of Toto tribes.

It is called the native of Indian one horned rhinoceros because of its largest population of the species which were once on the edge of extinction. Kaziranga National Park in Assam has the largest population of rhinoceros whereas Jaldapara is considered to be having the second largest population.
