Nahargarh Fort

Nahargarh Fort

Rajasthan has got forts and palaces aplenty earning the North western state of India the name, Royal land. Nahargarh Fort is one of the three major forts in the pink city of Jaipur along with Ajmer Fort and the Jaigarh Fort. The smallest of the three, Nahargarh was originally built in 1734 and extended in 1868. Situated on the Aravalli hill ridge, this fort overlooks the city of Jaipur and forms an impressive Northern backdrop of the capital city of Rajasthan.

The Fort is easily accessible from Jaipur by buses or cars. From Amber Fort, Nahargarh Fort is a nine kilometer steep climb. One can either choose to walk all the way up to the fort or hire a vehicle to drive you to the top. The winding roads along the way are well paved and maintained. The hill offers excellent views of the Man Sagar Lake and a mesmerizing view of the Jal Mahal Palace. The Madhavendra Bhawan Palace is situated near the fort and it also houses the Nahargarh Sanctuary.
